pineapple

I have been wanting to create a welcome chalkboard sign for the front porch for sometime now.  I was having a problem deciding on a design.  Recently it came to me that I wanted the board in the shape of a pineapple.  The pineapple has served as a symbol of hospitality and warm welcome through the history of the Americas.  Thus, it seems really fitting for the front porch.  Nick said that he would help cut a wooden board into that shape.  All I have to do is paint it.  Bennett recruited himself to help.

He helped with the drawing of the pineapple.

The sign ready for cutting.  I think it turned out really good.

Then he helped set up for the cutting.

The he helped mommy cheer daddy on while he cut the board.  Bennett wasn't too happy watching from the sidelines.

With cheerleaders like Bennett and I, it's no wonder daddy did such a good job cutting!

When it was time for sanding, Bennett decide to go rogue and...

Then he piled all of the cut pieces back on and off the pineapple.

We have a very eager helper on our hands.  I finished painting the pineapple while Bennett napped.  I cannot wait to hang it up.

I think it looks great in it's new home.
