The Kelpies are a monument to horse powered heritage across Scotland. The name reflected the mythological transforming beasts possessing the strength and endurance of 10 horses; a quality that is analogous with the transformational change and endurance of Scotland's inland waterways.

the kelpies
We had a busy day planned for today. We set out to see the Kelpies. It's the newest attraction in Scotland. It just opened in April of 2014. They are 30-meter high horse-head sculptures, standing next to a new extension to the Forth and Clyde Canal in The Helix, a new parkland project built to connect 16 communities in the Falkirk Council Area, Scotland. The sculptures form a gateway at the eastern entrance to the Forth and Clyde canal, and the new canal extension built as part of The Helix land transformation project.
There is a canal and a turn around pool that passes through the middle of the two horse heads. It was raining so we didn't stick around for too long. It was worth the trip regardless of the bad weather.
