tornado warning

My phone started going off in my purse and it sounded like a smoke alarm.  It was making noises I have never heard it make before.  It was giving me an Emergency Alert: Tornado Warning in this area until 5:15PM EDT. Take shelter now. Check local media.

It got really dark and fast.  We took shelter at the AAA.  Nick needed a passport photo.  Obviously we didn't take the warning seriously.  We didn't end up having a tornado in the area but there was one in Revere, MA which is about 40 miles northeast of us.  Carrying winds of as high as 120 miles per hour, it uprooted hundreds of trees, ripped roofs off houses and caused tons of damage in an area of about 3 square miles.  It was the first tornado in Suffolk County since 1950.  We are lucky that we didn't have one of those in our area.  Lesson learned.
