A few minutes after leaving the harbor things started to get very rough. Elana started to get a bit nervous and scared. She cuddled with mommy for shelter.
About forty minutes later we all started to feel nauseous and ready for the watch to end. We were eating ginger chews and drinking ginger ale to keep things down. The ride was very rough. There were others on board that have thrown up multiple times already. The only one that enjoyed the rough ride was Bennett. The one person we least expected to enjoy it.
We didn't get to see any whales in the end either. The water was too rough. We headed back to the harbor after trying to find some whales for about 45 minuted to an hour. The water started to get better and so did the weather. It was a nice smooth ride back to the harbor. We even got outside to enjoy. It was really windy out there though.
And, ironically Bennett started to complain at this point. We got a rain check so we can come back and enjoy the whale watch in good weather. We were all very happy to be back and get off the boat. What a bust!
We spent the rest of the afternoon at the aquarium. The new fish tank is finally finished. We enjoyed watching the turtles, fishes and sharks swimming around but missed all of the penguins. They have not been brought back yet to their exhibits. It was a good time. Elana ran around very excited to see all of the different fish. She wore herself out.
Even with such a rough start, it was a great day in the end.
Sunday we spent lounging around the house before Mary and Elana were heading home. I was sad that they were going back so soon. We enjoyed their visit and hope they come back and see us again.
how fun! i wish i was there with you girls!
