independence day

We drove to my parent's house for Independence Day Weekend.  We had a wedding we were going to on Saturday, July 6th so we decided to make it a long weekend at my parents.  We wanted to do something outside as the weather outside was due to be gorgeous.  So we went to Watkins Glen State Park because Nick and Bennett have never been and it's a very scenic and easy hike.   We left very early to beat the crowds and I am glad that we did.  It was really enjoyable.  I couldn't help but post a lot of pictures in this blog entry because the falls are gorgeous.

There are lots of stairs to climb so we were in for a good workout.  The first fall we came across we literally walked under to continue our hike.  It's a really unique experience.  The water is cold so walking underneath the fall really cooled us off and felt rather good.

We took lots of little breaks for photo opts and to take in the scenery.  Bennett was having fun looking around and was in a great mood all day.

We didn't see much wildlife at the falls but we did run into a few turtles. This guy was staring at us the entire time as if watching us to make sure we didn't take anything or come any closer.

At the end of the day everyone was pooped.  We took naps and did some grilling.  Happy Independence Day!

  1. How beautiful! Is this south of Rochester? I feel like Chris and I may have driven here a couple times with Noah but my memory stinks!
