daddy, do you want to take a picture?

Bennett loves to take pictures with my phone.

the holy donut

We stopped in Portland, ME on the way home to get some donuts.  These are made with the freshest real ingredients that are local.  The glazes are dyed with fruit juices and... the dough is made with mashed potatoes (my favorite)!

These donuts melt in your mouth.  Absolutely scrumptious!

Bennett agrees.

the travelling lobster

Dinner is at the lobster pound today near the house.  Winston did not make it.  He stayed behind with Nikki (is allergic to shellfish) and Ellie.  He ended up sleeping the entire time and did not wake up until 5:30am the next morning!

Luckily there was only one person in line before us.  We got our lobsters pretty quickly.

Bennett was calling them "monsters."

We ate fast.  The owner told us the mosquitoes are attracted by the lobster scent.  Nick, Bennett and John were getting bit up.  Yum!

uncle dylan

Bennett was very excited to see uncle Dylan.  He would ask: "Where is uncle Dylan?" if he went some place without us.  When he would see him, he would ask: "Uncle Dylan, did you have fun camping?"

bar island

Bar Island is accessible from Bar Harbor by foot for about 3 hours during the low tide.  We took a walk out there after lunch.

The path was about a quarter mile long.  Once on Bar Island there is a hiking path that is doable. We did not hike since both Bennett and I had to go to the bathroom.

gorham mountain trail

We hiked Gorham Mountain this morning.  It is more challenging.  Bennett did really well.  He hiked 95% of the time.  His favorite was climbing on a rock and jumping onto the nearby rock.  We had a really good time today but we did not see any views at the summit.  It was an overcast day!

Winston carried the banana peal for the first half of the hike.  LOL

At the fake summit.

At the real summit.

The cairns on the hike down.  We took the Cadillac Cliffs path.

Bennett was worried about the monsters in the tunnel. He did not want to go through the tunnel alone.

The hike was great especially on the way down but I wish we had a view.

oceanview path

We are in Bar Harbor, Maine for the weekend.  Today we are doing an easy hike along the ocean shore called Ocean View.

Thunder Hole - not living up to it's reputation today.

We went to lunch at Jordan Pond House.  They have a reputation for great popovers.  It started raining when we got there.  But, we managed to still sit and eat outside.  The Bubbles are in the background during our delicious lunch.  The lobster stew was amazing!  The popovers were still warm.  They really hit the spot on this rainy and cloudy day.

Ellie, Bennett and Winston were playing hide and seek on the ride home.  Ellie was cracking up laughing.  So cute!  Bennett is very sweet with her.
