We visited with Miss Xena tonight. She has gotten so big since the last time we saw her.
She is now crawling and pulling up on the couch. Isn't she just the cutest?

trouble times two in the car
Bennett always enjoyed climbing around in the car. He pushes all the buttons and changes all the settings on Nick and I. It looks like Winston has picked up on this habit. He also enjoys exploring in the car.

bennett and the pee
For lunch today the boys were having pasta and pees. Bennett is normally not a pee fan but he was eating them up. Nick and I just finished and were cleaning up. We had afternoon plans with friends. Out of the blue Bennett started complaining about his nose. He was putting his finger up there and crying: "It hurts, it hurts." Nick straight away grabbed a flashlight to shine up his nose. Sure enough, Bennett had pushed a pee up his nose!
We panicked. I pictures us spending hours at the ER or Urgent Care then ER. Thank goodness we held on to the NoseFrida! Nick was able to suck it out with my help (I held B down and his nostril shut as the pee moved toward the opening). Bennett checked Daddy's nose for pees after the fact.
That could have been bad... Phew! Thank you NoseFrida for saving us from a trip to the ER.

sunflower fields at buttonwood farm
Today we spent walking through the sunflower field, eating sunflower ice cream and enjoying a tractor ride at Buttonwood Farm. They grow 14 acres of Sunflowers each year for charity. 100% of the proceeds from a bunch bought at the farm go to the Make a Wish Foundation.
Bennett dreaming that all of his meals could be M&M ice cream.

second beach with baba
We spent the morning at the beach today. We went to our favorite spot in Rhode Island near Newport called Second Beach. We got there early and were able to park and find a spot on the beach easily. Bennett loves the beach and has been many times. He was right at home and started playing with his trucks and the sand right away.
Winston took some time to adjust to the sand. He was very cautious. Slowly following his brother's lead he was playing in the sand, eating the sand and exploring in the sand. This is Winston's second time at the beach. We brought him last year but he was just a baby.
Bennett was having so much fun! He went in deep with Daddy. He was really enjoying the tall waves this morning.
We left a little before lunch. It was a great trip to the beach! I am pretty sure Bennett would have stayed all day if we let him.

W was very scared of the water. He did not like it. It scared him, he would cry and run.
My mom and I had to hold him. He wouldn't be any where near the water otherwise.

The boys took some time off in the sand after their dip in the ocean. Winston loves to do everything Bennett is doing. The closer he is to Bennett the better. Bennett is a good sport most of the time.

potty training: days 3-7
Bennett is doing so well with potty training that there isn't much to report for the next few days. He is asking to go pee and poop. He is still sleeping in the night time diaper but he is dry in the morning. We take him to the potty right away and he pees before changing into underwear. He had a few accidents on Saturday night when we went over to visit Maeve next door. I think he was having a hard time pulling away from the toys and spending time with Maeve. Thank goodness the accidents happened outside on the deck!
Over the weekend we traveled to the beach and to a farm in Connecticut. He did great letting us know when he had to go (the toughest was the Portapotty at the farm, yuck!). We had no accidents while we were out. I think we can proudly say that he is officially potty trained! Thank you Baba for all of your help! Cheers!

potty training: day 2
It was a half day for me today at work in the morning. My mom was home alone with B. I armed her with several underwear and shorts for the morning. However, Bennett only had one accident all morning! He asked my mom to go pee twice.
In the afternoon, he was good about asking to go as well. He had one more accident after his nap but it was a small amount. I think he just didn't make it to the bathroom in time. I am very proud of B! We almost gave up and he shocked us today with doing such a good job. I only had a small load of laundry tonight and a couple of beers.
I love that Winston loves to be near his brother whatever he is doing.

ground vs. winston
Winston is walking but he is not very sturdy yet and falls a lot. This Sunday he took a big dive toward the ground and lost that fight. Speaking of battles... I lost when trying to take a picture of his face after his fall.
yogurt
I do not like to give B and W yogurt for lunch. They really enjoy it but it makes a mess. Bennett was very helpful cleaning up after himself today though...
This is a completely appropriate way to clean up yogurt, right?
potty training: day 1
Today I started potty training Bennett. I am not sure he is ready but Nick and I are so we wanted to give it our best shot. This week day care is closed and we are watching him (my mom is helping) so the timing works out. I decided the best route was to go cold turkey. I took his diaper off and put on just his shorts. I asked him to tell me when he had to go pee pee or poopy and let him play. Sadly, he did not ask to use the potty once... He had accidents all day long. He would run over to me and let me know when he was wet because he peed himself and did not like the feeling. I would remind him to let me know before he peed so I could help him use the potty. Needless to say, I was getting really frustrated with the state of things by the late afternoon. The worst accident was when he pooped himself in the kitchen as I was half way through opening a bottle of wine. I was very happy to see Nick come home.
Overall, Bennett had 12 accidents today. I ran a full load of laundry and drank a full bottle of wine. I am ready to give up but... we decided to give it one more day.
