easter

It's Easter!  The boys got to open their Easter baskets first things this morning.

Bennett is very excited.  Bennett reached for the candy right away.

Winston didn't seem to care about the toys or the candy.  He liked playing with the stringy filling in the basket.

Bennett loved his new Star Wars Lego ship better than all the candy.  Daddy helped him build it.

Bennett did the egg hunt alone this year.  Winston is not walking so he can not participate.

Bennett loved it!  He found the eggs so fast.  The egg hunt was over before I knew it.  I think I need to put out more eggs next year.

Happy Easter to All!

chateau ste. michelle

When in Washington... a wine tasting is a must.  We wanted the best so we went to Chateau Ste. Michelle.

The tasting room was packed but we managed to get service and fairly quickly.  I think my favorite was ALL of them.  Feeling much warmer on this chilly, foggy and rainy day.

They don't actually grow many of their grapes here at the winery.  Most of them are grown further south and brought here for processing and aging.  Not a lot of grapes enjoy this murky weather.  I can relate.  These are some of the older grape vines still growing at the winery.

Since we were out... we hit up a few more spots like Red Hook and Woodinville Whiskey.

Woodinville makes a 100% Rye Whiskey which we really enjoyed.

museum of flight

Bennett loves airplanes.  So, trying to please the boys we went to an airplane museum today.

The first jet-powered Air Force One (1959–62, SAM 970), a Boeing VC-137B, was flown to Boeing Field in 1996.  It arrived in June and was opened to visitors in October.  Retired from active service earlier that year, it is on loan from the Air Force Museum.  It was the first presidential jet, which served in the presidential fleet from 1959 to 1996.

Pretty neat we got to walk through the same airplane that carried multiple presidents of the United States.

The airplane had some objects from the former presidents on display.

The rest of the museum was filled with smaller airplanes from various world conflicts and information.  Too much information!

In the afternoon, we did some sightseeing while searching for a lunch place.  Who knew there is a Lenin statue in Seattle?

We tried doing a tour at Theo Chocolate.  The boys were too young.  So we tried as many chocolates as would fit in our bellies in the gift shop.

All of the chocolates are wonderfully delicious!

We are lucky to have the opportunity to try many of them for free.

After lunch and dessert we visited the Fremont Troll.  This sculpture made in the 1990s by four local artists is HUGE.  It was built as part of an art competition to rehabilitate the areas under the bridges in the city which were being taken over by drug dealers.

A quick stop at Pie for a snack before driving back to the house for dinner.  These mini pies are out of this world.

This is our last day in the city before heading home.  See you later Seattle!
