halloween!

We were all excited for Halloween this year.  Bennett was older so we figured he would be more interested in going out to trick-o-treat and dress up.  I got him a minion costume to wear.

He loves minions and I thought we can not go wrong!  So when it came time to dress up, we did not expect the tears and the screaming that followed.  Bennett wanted to have nothing to do with his costume.  He really just wanted to look at it.  He did not enjoy wearing it one bit.

We decided to stay in once again and just hand out candy.  Although, he mostly ate the candy.  Hopefully next year we will finally be able to do some trick-o-treating.

week 10

We are in for our first obgyn appointment and ultrasound today.  I am excited to see Dr. Warner again.  It has been a while since our last appointment a year ago.  I love my obgyn.

The baby is growing and measuring as expected.  It is the size of a kumquat.  The baby's organs are developed and starting to function.  It is capable of swallowing.  His/her tiny fingers are forming nails and peach fuzz hair is growing on the skin.  The baby's limbs can bend now.  We saw the baby wiggling today.  It had a strong heartbeat of 156 bpm.

stole away

Someone wants to go on another trip.  We are not sure where but I am thinking a beach anywhere...

That suitcase does look right about his size.

exploring nassau

Shay and I spent the rest of the trip in the Bahamas exploring the downtown.  We went to the Pirates Museum.

Learned some fun things about pirates of the Caribbean.

We also visited the Graycliff hotel.  History has it that the Graycliff mansion was originally built in 1740 by Captain John Howard Graysmith, a famous pirate of the Caribbean who commanded the notorious schooner Graywolf and plundered treasure ships along the Spanish Main.

It is the home of Graycliff Cigar Company founded by Enrico Garzaroli.  Their most famous cigar - The Graycliff - was blended by Master Torcedore Avelino Lara. Once Fidel Castro’s personal roller, Lara is famous for his creations at the El Laguito Factory outside of Havana, where he created blends for Cohiba, Davidoff and among others.

We went in to see the cigar rollers make the cigars right in front of us.  It was a very cool experience.

The Graycliff also had it's own chocolate shop.  We couldn't miss that so we got some chocolates.

And. tried a rum shot from a chocolate shot glass.

We explored the Government House.  Or, rather around the house...

It was a beautiful view of Nassau from the government house.

We would stop for some refreshments when we got thirsty.

My first coconut!

My second coconut!

I had it opened so I could eat the coconut meat.

Bahamas heat makes on thirsty.

Our favorite were banana daiquiris.

And, of course we spent sometime at the beach in our fancy new floppy hats.

It was a very relaxing few days and I am glad I took the time to make this fun girls trip.

But, I was very happiest coming home to my boys!

beach day

Daddy and B were leaving this afternoon so we decided to take it easy and spend the day at the beach bumming.  We drove to Love Beach near our hotel.  It's a nice local beach with a small bar nearby.   It was perfect for us.  We had plenty of privacy and room to spread out.

This is also a great beach for snorkeling if one were inclined.

B headed right for the water.  This kid knows exactly what to do when we go to the beach.  He loves running in and letting the waves crush into him.

He also loves playing in the sand with Daddy.  They dig holes and build sandcastles.

The time was going by way too fast today.

My beach bum had to leave shortly.  I am glad that they could come even if it was for a short two days.

In no time we were waving good bye to the airplane as Daddy and B were flying away.

I am going to miss my boys!

day at the atlantis

We are heading for a fun day in the sun at Atlantis, Bahamas.  Shay is staying here while B and Nick are in town.  She gets a free pass to see all that Atlantis has to offer.  We decided to check out the Aquarium first.

Bennett was taken in with the fishes swimming in the enormous taken right off the bet.

And, so was Shay.  The fishes liked her too.

The place was small but they offered a good selection of different sea creatures.

Eels creep me out mostly because they remind me of giant leeches.

An up close look at the conch snail.  They are so weird looking.

Bennett was really enjoying himself.

Lastly we saw the lobster tank.  It was crawling with lobsters.  The lobsters here are much different from the lobsters I am used to in New England.  They are not as meaty or sweet.

That was a fun way to spend the morning.  It also made us hungry.  So we grabbed lunch after which we headed to one of the beaches at Atlantis.

They did a good creating a few small beaches around the hotel.  The sand is soft and the water was nice and warm.  We even saw a few schools of fish in the water.

B enjoyed playing in the shallow water.

We did a lot today and that deserves a great meal.  We went out to a nice restaurant at Atlantis.  Our service and food were superb.  Shay and Nick split a meat platter that they cooked at our table.

They got steak, sausage, lobster, pork shop and chicken served with potatoes and asparagus.  It was an unbelievable amount of food.

Needles to say, we were all stuffed and very sleepy after dinner.  Looking forward to working some of the meal off at the beach tomorrow.
