easter

Bennett's first Easter was this week. He of course didn't have any idea of the significance of the holiday or what he was missing. Instead, we had a few chocolate bunnies on hand so even though B couldn't go hunting for eggs and candy this year, they could come to him. He looked so festive in his orange baby bear outfit.

happy 2 months to Bennett

Today our little nugget turned 2 months old. We decided to celebrate with a sweet little treat so I made cupcakes. One for mommy, one for daddy and one for Bennett. Bennett couldn't have his but I am sure he will make up for that fact when he is a bit older. We enjoyed ours and his.

week 8

Bennett is getting so big. I packed away all of his newborn outfits because he is too chunky for them. He is fitting into his three month clothing and some of them maybe too small in just a couple of weeks already. And, I cannot believe he is just a few days away from his two month birthday. We had a busy weekend. We went to visit our friends Kristen and Dan in Hartford. Enjoyed spending a wonderful afternoon with them talking about their baby boy, Fergus. He is due to arrive any day now and we cannot wait to meet him. Bennett did well on the car ride there and back. He is so good in the car. I am so impressed.

Saturday night we hung out with our neighbors Maribeth, Mike and their little girl, Maeve. She is only a couple of weeks younger than Bennett. She is also a very good baby. She was well behaved and barely made a peep the entire time they were here. I wish I took some picture but we were too busy catching up and sharing baby stories to stop and get the camera out. We tried to get the babies to acknowledge each other but it didn't work out. They would swing their heads around and around and look at everything else around them but each other. I am learning babies are really bad at eye contact.

Sunday we spent hanging out with our friends Linda, Jake and their daughter Ali. It was nice to catch up with them. Linda is expecting her second daughter in August. So exciting how many babies are coming into our world recently.

We did manage to take a couple of pictures in between all of our activities. These pictures are some of my favorite pictures of Bennett.

week 7

This weekend Babushka and Dedushka came for a visit. My dad was so excited to meet Bennett for the first time that he snagged him from me as soon as he walked through the door. Bennett behaved really well while in Dedushka's arms. They got some really nice bonding time.

Later Babushka and Sheila joined in on the fun. Bennett loved all the attention.

We went to celebrate their first meeting (my dad insisted) at The Texas Roadhouse. We got my dad a nice steak and to our surprise he loved it! My dad hates going to restaurants so this is a big deal. He kept going on about how good it was. He even said it was the best steak he has eaten in the US yet. So happy we found a restaurant my dad finally likes. Bennett liked it too. He slept the entire time. We figure that means he likes it.

On Saturday morning we got ready to go to the Higgins Armory in Worcester. It's a private collection of medieval weapons and armor. We have been wanting to go for a while but haven't found the time. Also, it's something that interests my dad so we decided to check it out.

We ended up enjoying this incredible collection enormously. They had armor from the times of gladiators. We saw how this armor evolved into the armor we are used to seeing from the Renaissance days and then some.

There are three types of armor: combat, tournament and decorative. The combat armor was for the battlefield, the tournament armor was for jousting and the decorative armor was for court events, ceremonies and parades. We learned a lot of similar fun facts about swords and weapons too. We tried our hand at handling some of the weapons as well.

For as big as that sword looked, it was very light. The jousting lance was not. I had a hard time keeping that straight and so did my dad.

We will definitely be coming back here soon. I think Bennett and his giraffe liked it too.

Saturday night we enjoyed a shepherd pie dinner with my parents, Cait, Evan and Bennett's buddy  Nolan. My mom knitted him a matching hat and they showed them off. Too cute!

Sunday my parents left pretty early to drive back home. They had a long trip home. We are so thankful they made it. We had a wonderful weekend thanks to them.

week 6

Bennett turned six weeks today. I cannot believe how fast time is flying by now a days. It was a special weekend for another reason as well. Auntie Audrey came all the way from Maryland to meet Bennett. We had a very busy weekend. One of those that flew by way too fast. Friday we spent the night settling in. Bennett and Aunt Audrey had some snuggle time. Saturday the girls spent some alone time together at the nail salon. In the afternoon we met up with the boys and our friends Corinne and Andrew for some lunch. In no time  it was dinner time and shortly after bedtime. When your bed time is nine o'clock, the days fly by very quickly. Sunday morning was very bittersweet. We were really happy because Bennett slept for a 6 hour stretch at night. Nick and I couldn't believe he slept so well. He must have been showing off for his Auntie. I hope he continues to sleep this well from now on. But, we were very sad Aunt Audrey was flying back to Maryland. I hate goodbyes. Thank you for coming Aunt Audrey. We love you and hope you come back to visit us again soon! Miss you already.
