These couple of weeks were eventful for Bennett. He got his first bath which he really didn't mind. I couldn't believe how cooperative he was. The hardest part was honestly to get the water temperature right. The duck that we bought was very helpful. I was surprised how the water was not very hot at all. I guess his baby skin is a lot more sensitive than my used and abused adult skin.
He also drank his first bottle this week. He did really well. He drank it really fast though and was really gassy afterwards. That is normal with bottle fed babies. They gulp up a lot of air. It is sad because we have to stop feeding him to burp him more often. He gets really uncomfortable. We will be bottle feeding only when it's unavoidable. This past weekend being the perfect example. We went to a baby shower in Connecticut. It was for my friend Kristen whomis expecting her first at the end of March. We couldn't miss it. Bennett took his first really long trip in the car. It took about an hour. We are lucky to have such a good little boy. He was good for daddy when he bottle fed him during the shower and he slept on the ride there and back.
Daddy loves to help take care of the baby. He picks him the cutest outfits. Although this one lasted all of 5 minutes before Bennett spit up all over it. Too bad because that color really brought out his eyes.
The mark on his forehead is from dermatitis. The pediatrician said it happens with a lot of babies and it should go away soon. It was really weird going to the doctor's office alone this week as well. Bennett and I were a few minutes late. Bennett did so well though. He didn't cry and was very good about letting the doctor examine him. He is now 9lbs. 1oz. and 22 inches long. He is growing well. He is still wearing his newborn clothing though.

week 3
I cannot believe that Bennett is already three weeks old. This week I was home alone with B. He gives me a hard time in the mornings. He hardly naps but the afternoons are great. He sleeps for an hour to an hour and half stretches so I get a chance to clean or do laundry or nap. The last of which is my favorite. Days fly by and it seems like in no time the evening is here and it's my bedtime. I have started to go to bed at 8 o'clock so that I can get a couple of hours of sleep before I am up every three hours. Ahh, joys of taking care of a newborn. He likes to sleep with his arms out but this time he also had them up in the air. Its really cute.
Yesterday was his first Valentine's day and B got mommy chocolate covered strawberries. I guess he must have used the computer when I was making the bed upstairs at one point during the day. But I don't know where he got the money. He is a crafty little guy already. Thank you B! The strawberries were delicious. How did you know they are mommy's favorite?

week 2
The second week we spent with Grandma. She came down on Sunday to stay with us through Saturday. Grandma was of great help. She brought all kinds of goodies for us to eat. And, she made us some delicious meals this week like crepes, "russian" wedding soup and pierogies. We also learned how to use our kitchen aid to grind meat. It's really easy and much cheaper than buying pre-ground meat. In return we got grandma addicted to Gossip Girl. She even signed up for Netflix so she wouldn't miss any episodes.
Grandma and I went out a couple of times during the week as well so I could get used the idea of leaving the house with B. We went to his photo shoot on Tuesday. The pictures turned out great. I can't wait to post them in a couple of weeks. And, Thursday we went to see the daycare provider we picked. I wanted my mom to meet her so I could get a second opinion. We had a nice chat with her and met some of the kids she watches. I think my mom approved. It's going to be so hard to leave him the first few times in the hands of a stranger. Too bad I can't stay home with him longer.
At the end of the week we got a lot of snow. Nick was home on Friday because we expected so much snow. It started snowing at 9 o'clock in the morning and didn't stop until Saturday around noon. We ended up getting 29 inches of snow in Auburn! Luckily we didn't lose power. I don't know what we would have done had that been the case.

week 1
The first week flew by with our little man. We were so busy taking care of his diapers, feeding and burping him that we found little time for anything else. We are sleep deprived, tired and overwhelmed but so happy to be parents. B is sleeping for only one hour or less between feedings so I am up every two hours during the night. Some of the other challenges we had to face this week are his first bath (he hated it), diaper changes without getting pee all over ourselves and swaddling (it's harder than it looks). We have a lot to learn. Still having trouble figuring out why he is crying sometimes. It doesn't help my hormones are running amok making me super sensitive. So happy Nick is home this week to help.
We are also grateful this week for so many thoughtful friends and family. We have received many adorable gifts for Bennett. He even has his very first pair of Ray Bans already.
