sharing

Bennett and Nolan were playing very well together tonight.  They managed to share the bead maze for a full ten minutes without fighting or hurting each other.

I call that progress!

chopsticks

Bennett and I were on our own tonight.  Daddy went out to a hockey game for a much needed break.  I was craving Chinese so Bennett and I picked some up on our way home.  Bennett enjoyed his lo-mein and rice but watched me intently as I ate my Chinese with chopsticks.  Finally he pointed at them and said something in Minion (that's what we call his language) that I translated as: "I want to try using chopsticks."

He knew exactly what to do without my instructions.

And, I was surprised that he managed to actually pick up and eat some cabbage and noodles.

Next we will have to work on teaching him how to use chopsticks with one hand.

week 27

I am in the last week of the second trimester!  Time has been flying by with this pregnancy.  The baby is the size of a head of cauliflower.  He may be able to recognize my voice by now.  And, he is able to blink and hiccup.  I haven't felt any hiccups yet but I do feel him moving quiet frequently.  I have another very busy boy on the way.

At my recent visit with Dr. Warner, the baby's heart beat was a strong 141 bpm.  He was measuring right on target for his size.  Mommy had the glucose test and the Tdap shot.  I passed the test just fine with mild discomfort from the sugary drink.  I wanted to run a marathon after about a half hour of downing the sugary orange cocktail.   But, my arm was sore for a week after the Tdap shot.  I cannot wait to meet my little munchkin!

pet store

Nick is setting up the fish tank in the basement.  All of the fish we had passed away a few months ago so we took a trip to the store to get some more.  Bennett really enjoyed running around the isles and looking at the goldfish.

Eventually we ventured out to the other side of the store and Bennett was very interested in the ferrets.

And, the rats.

The entire time we were at the store he ran around holding the two lollipops he got from his hair appointment this morning.

I was finally able to take them away once he fell asleep in the car on the ride home from the pet store.  Fish shopping is exhausting.

tractor

We are at Home Depot again.  Picking up molding and looking at lighting fixtures for the basement.  Bennett detoured to check out some tractors.  You know what they say about boys and their toys.

daycare fun

Bennett is having fun tee-tottering at daycare today.  I wish I could join him instead of working.  I miss him.

home depot

We have been going to Home Depot every weekend these days due to our recent home improvement project, the basement.  Bennett has never been a huge fan of shopping anywhere we go.  He is particularly frustrating at Home Depot.  He doesn't want to stand still.

This is a small insight into our trips these days.  I did not realize how important standing still is to decision making at Home Depot until I didn't have the luxury anymore.  Bennett got these balloons from the nice man at the paint mixing counter after he knocked the balloon stand over.  It's a good thing he is so cute!

He does the funniest things.

valentine's day

Happy Valentine's Day!  We celebrated by going out to breakfast.  Bennett did well and ate half of my bacon, a piece of toast and some of Daddy's pancakes.

We spent the rest of the day running errands.  Not very romantic but they had to get done before the snow started coming down again.  We are supposed to get another foot.  We ended the day with a nice home cooked dinner and a movie.  It was perfect.  I loved spending all day relaxing with my boys.

pre-valentine's day celebration

I got my Valentine's Day gift from Bennett and Daddy early.  It's going to be bad tomorrow as we anticipate yet another snow storm.  So, we went out to eat and skipped to some of the gift giving to tonight.

Bennett and Daddy know just what Mommy likes.

Mommy is happy to share.  I think Bennett likes chocolate covered strawberries too just like Mommy.

Thank you for my delicious Valentine's Day treat!

week 25

I am getting bigger!  The baby is getting bigger too weighing in at a pound and half now.  He is the size of a rutabaga this week.  He is gaining some weight and accumulating some fat to get himself insulated for the outside world.  And, he is growing hair.

We have been busy working on a list of names for the little guy.  Here are some of our favorites: Theodore, Phineas, Devin, Emerson and Donovan.  My favorite being Theodore.

snow storm three

A major weekly snow storm has become a re occurrence here in Mass.  The last three weeks straight we have had major snow.  This year has now beat the record snow fall for 20 consecutive days and 30 consecutive days from 1978.  We got 63 inches in 17 days.  My training in Beverly (which is 70 miles away) did not get cancelled this morning.  I hit the road early.  Here are some of the pictures from my trip.

The Pathfinder did really well in the snow.  There was not much traffic on the road either which helped immensely.

Ironically, I actually made it to training early.  The snow is already higher than the garbage bins.  And, we are getting another 10 inches today.

minion hat

Auntie Thuy came over today to see us.  She got Bennett the coolest hat.

He does not like to wear hats but I really hope this one grows on him.  Thanks auntie Thuy!

bennett and harlow

Tonight we drove out to see auntie Noel and uncle Dylan for dinner.  And, to meet the newest addition to their family, Harlow.  Bennett loves dogs and they have two.  He was very excited to see them both.

You could say Bennett and Harlow got along really well.

She let him climb into her bed and was really gentle around him.

I think she liked the attention too.  Harlow is a sweet pup.  She has a completely different personality from her sister, Isa.  She is more calm and reserved.

Great to meet you Harlow!  Look forward to many more visits with you in the future.  You and your sister are welcome to come and play in our yard anytime.

snow fun

We got out today for some fun in the snow.  We haven't had the chance to play in the snow until now because we have been so busy.  Nick wanted to dig out a path for Bennett in the yard to explore.

It turned out that was hard work because the snow has compacted down so much.

He did not get very far before giving up.

Bennett did not mind since he was having fun just climbing around on top of the snow bank.

He also enjoyed picking up and throwing snowballs.

Bennett was having so much fun his hat turned sideways.

We stayed out for about and hour and a half.  I think Bennett really enjoyed himself.   I am glad we finally got a chance to take him out for some snow fun.
