the trip to the cape

We are going to a wedding in May and we are taking Bennett with us.  We are not sure how he is going to do in a hotel room so we took an overnight trip to Hyannis, MA.  We spent the day walking about and exploring.  They had artists out and about that were using chalk to create some very impressive pictures on the sidewalk.  We enjoyed looking at their art work.

We had a nice dinner at a very good seafood restaurant by the water and Bennett got a lot of attention from the waitresses there.  He was a little flirt and smiled and cooed back at them for a long while.  He loves all of the attention.

We went out by the water for a bit after dinner to get some fresh air.  Bennett took a nap since all the flirting wore him out.

It was impossible to take a family photo with Bennett napping so we had to improvise.

After the beach we headed to the hotel.  We had the pack and play ready for Bennett and he did really well.  The little nugget surprised us again.  He fell asleep at his usual time around nine o'clock and slept right through all the noise from the bar next to the hotel.  That was not part of the plan.  We didn't realize the hotel would be so noisy.  However, we now know that he can sleep through anything. We were very impressed.

week 12

We have gotten into a good schedule between day care and my work schedule at this point. Bennett is growing fast and starting to get better at trying to hold himself up.  He tries to pull up while sitting in his chair constantly.  We are even trying him in the Bumbo now.  He just doesn't like it very much after five minutes.  I think he gets frustrated because he can only sit upright for that long after which he slumps over to the side of the seat.

He has grown out of his newborn clothe and wears his three to six month clothing now.  I got a little sad putting his little outfits away.  His hair is getting lighter and is slowly falling out.  I hope it grows back eventually.

week 11

Mommy went back to work this week.  She sure is missing Bennett.  Although she knows Bennett is doing great in day care, she wishes she could stay home with him.  It's really strange to have to get ready, leave the house and drive to work.  I haven't done that in so long it felt all brand new like a first day to work way back when I was just starting my first job after college.

The week went by pretty quickly since there is a lot of work to be done since I was out for so long. And, the new schedule at home was taking a toll.  I was very tired and ready for the weekend. Good thing grandma decided to come up for a visit.  We went out to Ikea to pick up our new porch furniture and spent the rest of our time playing and relaxing.  Bennett loves his time with grandma. He enjoys listening to her sing.

Bennett is becoming more alert, he loved sitting in his chair and watching us as we made breakfast Sunday morning.  He did some yawning which is adorable and he is also starting to smile.  It's the sweetest thing when he smiles back at me when I finally get his attention.  Unfortunately, he has this giant zit on his nose this week.  I have been lovingly calling him Rudolph.

He still has some craddle cap but it is getting much better.  We stopped using Aveeno soap and that has helped the craddle cap disappear.  We love Burt's Bees and Mustela for his hair now.

week 10

Bennett is starting daycare this week.  It's back to work for mommy next week so we are doing part time this week to test the waters.  It took us a long time to pack everything up for his first day. We were unsure how much he is going to need to eat and how many diapers he will use and what toys he is going to use so we brought a lot of stuff.  And, Mommy had a very hard time taking Bennett so things dragged out a bit.  It was one of the hardest things I have ever done to leave Bennett the first day.  I spent most of the morning crying before and after dropping him off and couldn't wait to pick him up after the four hours he was spending there.  We dressed him up in one of his cutest outfits and off we went.

He did really well even though mommy was so worried.  He took a couple of naps, drank some milk, took a poop and played with the kids. Or, rather the kids played with him.  They love having a baby around.  All of them ran over to greet him when we came in and surrounded him in his car seat.  He looked up at them with a very curious stare.  One of the girls liked Bennett most out of them all.  Her name is Scarlett and she is very persistent at giving Bennett hugs.  In the first five minutes she must have tried at least 5 or 6 times.

I was very excited to pick Bennett up in one piece.  He was also very happy when I picked him up which means he had a good time.  He spent half days at day care for the rest of the week. It was just as hard the second day but it got much easier as the week went on.  I am glad that we took him in while I was still home because it helped relieve a lot of stress not having to deal with Bennett in day care and going back to work at the same time.
